Online Help - Draft Setup

The draft pick setup screen is the most important screen for drafting. It is where you will set up each of your draft picks individually.

Your league administrator will let you know which rounds will be drafted each turn and you set up any draft picks that you have during these rounds.

The screen shows the current years draft picks in a list at the top left of the screen. The avalible draft options are shown the the right of this list. These list draft lists, draft criteria and pick top rated player.

Draft lists shows all the lists you have created. Draft Criteria lists all the criteria that you have created. The Pick Top Rated Player options are a set of Pre-Set criteria to pick the best player, in your scouts opinion, from the position selected.

Setting Up Your Picks

To set up each draft pick you select the pick you wish to set up from the draft picks list. Upon highlighting a pick the Pick Setup list will show you what is currently set up for the pick. The default setup is - "Fill Team Needs With Best Player". You can change this by using the draft lists, criteria or pick top rated player options by double clicking on the option.

You can move any of your draft lists up or down the priority order by highlighting it and using the MOVE UP and MOVE DOWN buttons.

Once you have attached your lists or criteria to your draft picks click OKAY to exit the screen.

An example of how this works is as follows :

Coach Bloggs has pick 15 in the first and second rounds. He creates the following

Draft List - Best Players - A list of 30 players in the draft in the order he would like to draft them.
Draft List - 2nd Rounders - A further list of 10 players that he wants.
Draft Criteria - Best Defender - A formula to pick his ideal defender.

1st Round Pick (Pick 15)

In the draft setup screen, Coach Bloggs selects his 1st Round Pick from the list. He expands the Draft Lists option where he sees both his lists. He then attaches the "Best Players" list to the draft pick by double clicking on it.

What Coach Bloggs has done is attach the list to the draft pick. He does not need to do anything else for the first round pick as he is picking 15th and has listed 30 players in preference order. When the draft pick is processed the computer will use his "Best Players" list, it will go through this list in order until it finds a player who has not been drafted and select that player.

2nd Round Pick (Pick 45)

Coach Bloggs selects his 2nd round pick which is the 45th overall. He attaches the following in this order :

1). "Best Players" List
2). "2nd Rounders" List
3). "Best Defender" Criteria

What Coach Bloggs has done is attach two lists and a criteria to the pick. When the pick is being processed the computer will look through the "Best Players" list first, coach bloggs is hoping that one of these players has slipped through the 1st round. If all 30 of the players in the "Best Players" list have been drafted then the computer moves on to the "2nd Rounders" list and looks through that list in order to see if a player is avalible. The chances are that there still is one of these players left as Coach Bloggs has listed 40 players (30 + 10) in his lists. However, if all the players in both lists have been drafted then the computer will move on to his "Best Defender" criteria and use that formula to pick the best remaining undrafted player who matches the criteria formula.
